Fantastic Christmas Performances to Watch at Home
It’s Christmas at home for millions of people in the UK. The new strain of coronavirus and the new tier 4 lockdown means for many families changing plans, not able to see loved ones, and spending Christmas at home. 2020 has been a tough year and it’s not ready to give us a break just yet! But is Christmas canceled? Of course not! To brighten the mood and bring the festive atmosphere back, I collated a list of fantastic Christmas performances to watch at home for kids and adults:
”Bach to baby” Christmas concert. “Bach to baby” is a project of making classical music accessible to young children and babies. The best musicians in the UK and even in the world play classical pieces that are easy to listen to for the younger audience. There are little stories, nursery rhymes, songs with actions, and actual musical performances, all to make little ones involved. The concerts are normally live but are also online since the Spring lockdown. I find the online version even better! Being at home makes it easier to manage my three-year-old daughter, who loves dancing with the music. We often enjoy these concerts on catch up on rainy days altogether. Price: £5 Available: no expiration date.
The London Royal Opera house Christmas concert. The London Royal Opera house performances are always top of my list to watch live. It requires some planning - tickets are often sold out months in advance! But once I manage to attend, what a grand atmosphere, magnificent venue, and simply fantastic performances! This year all of this can be enjoyed from the sofa in our homes as the Christmas concert is available to watch online. Price: £8.33. Available: till the 17th of January 2021.
The Nutcracker – A Christmas Carol by The Czech National Ballet. The Ballet probably doesn’t need an introduction to most of us. It has become a classical Christmas story. Even our Christmas playdough set has the soldier from Nutcracker shape! This performance is from the Czech National Ballet and has been recommended by my friend. I am looking forward to seeing it. My three-year-old may not manage to watch it all, but I hope it will be a nice introduction to ballet dancing for her, and we will enjoy the Christmas atmosphere watching it. Price: free. Available: till 27th December 2020.
I hope you will enjoy watching the performances at home. Merry Christmas to you!!
